Introduction to Katie Williams Wine Experience

My personal experience with wine has grown and shifted for years. When I first tried wine I thought it was bitter, tasteless and believed I would never drink it again. As the years went on I tried different brands and kinds. I was familiar with certain whites like Chardonnay and Moscato. The only red wine I knew of was Cabernet. It wasn't until I started my job as a server where I really started to explore and understand the different bottles and understand the different names. A memory I will never forget was a night someone asked for "Port". It was to my understanding this was most likely port wine cheese so I went to the kitchen only to discover its a wine. I started to learn more about wines here and did my first ever tasting to understand different flavors and blends. Ever since then I have really enjoyed wines and love experimenting. I try a glass a wine every other week I feel and I like to try and pair the wine with meals. Unfortunately  I think I do have an allergy to rose so I will need to avoid those bottles (of that certain grape). The past couple of summers I have traveled to Europe and have been able to try amazing wines.

Through out this course I hope to learn more about the different types of grapes. I know of certain kinds like norton but want to expand my knowledge. My sisters finance is in the process of becoming a sommelier. I enjoy the conversations in learning about wine and different blends. I want to be able to keep up with the conversation and be able to speak the language of wine. Another topic I hope to learn about is when grapes are harvested what type of wine they make. I heard that in the late harvest, the grape is considered a "frosty wine". Excited to be able to learn how to properly pair foods with wine. I want to be able to try these wines and learn the different flavors with them. Overall I am super excited for this course and to expand my knowledge of wines.
